As the Denver Art Museum's Daniel Liebiskind-designed Frederick
Hamilton Wing nears its October 2006 completion date, the
exterior titanium skin is slowly being revealed by the removal
of the plastic protective sheeting. The Invisible Museum has
collected more than 500 sheets of the "Nitto".
Through its "Curator in Residence" program and
the use of the Nitto, The Invisible Museum will produce what
promises to be one of the premier contemporary art exhibits
in the Fall of 2006.
"Unwrapping The Wing" will be an exhibit of the
works of 14 national and international artists selected by
curator Devon Dikeou. Working in both two and three dimensions,
the artists will create works using the Nitto. At the opening
event, artworks will be available for purchase and will benefit
The Invisible Museum as well as its partner organization,
The Spot, a Denver center whose mission is to help
at-risk urban youth and adolescents mature into productive
adults by providing a safe, supportive nighttime youth center
that encourages respect, creativity, education, employment,
career and youth development.
The curator, Devon Dikeou, is the editor of zingmagazine
www.zingmagazine.com
as well as the Director of the Dikeou Collection www.dikeoucollection.org
in Denver, Colorado. Ms. Dikeou has selected fourteen national
and international artists to participate in the project.
Unwrapping The Wing opens on October 5, 2006 from 6-9pm at
1615 California St. 5th Floor. Tickets may be purchased in
advance by mailing a check to The Invisible Museum, P.O. Box
102080 Denver, Colorado, 80250 or by calling 303.295.0903.
